Delete and restore clients

Remove clients you no longer work with and bring them back later. Deleting is reversible and never touches issued documents.

When you stop working with a client, delete them to keep your client list and pickers short. In Bilify nothing of consequence is ever erased: a deleted client is set aside and can be restored at any time.

Delete a client

  1. Open Clients.
  2. Click the menu at the end of the client's row and choose Delete.
  3. Confirm with Confirm.

To delete several at once, tick their checkboxes and click Delete selected in the bar that appears.

What changes after deleting:

  • The client disappears from the Clients list and from the Client picker on new documents and recurring invoices.
  • Documents already issued to the client stay exactly as they are, with the client's details frozen on them. They still appear under Documents.
  • The client's contacts can no longer request a sign-in link to the client portal.

Recurring invoices

A recurring invoice set up for a single client keeps running after that client is deleted. Switch the rule off under Documents > Recurring invoices if you no longer want to invoice them. See Recurring invoices.

Restore a client

  1. Open Clients and tick Show deleted. Deleted clients appear greyed out alongside the active ones.
  2. Click the menu on the deleted client's row and choose Restore.
  3. Confirm.

To restore several, tick them while Show deleted is on and click Restore in the selection bar. The client returns with all their details, contacts and documents.

Opening a deleted client

A deleted client's profile page cannot be opened. Restore the client first if you need to see their profile.

Who can do this

Deleting needs the delete permission for clients and restoring needs the restore permission. Owners and admins have both. If you do not see Delete or Restore, ask an owner to check your role under Members.
